PROJECT CHALLENGES
The project presented several challenges, including limited information in the early design stages. Additionally, the project had a compressed timeline and faced access constraints due to the existing building layout, requiring the plant room to be designed with a minimal footprint.
PROJECT SOLUTION
Working with limited information, our Dutypoint experts helped guide our client with informed decisions and design optimisations based on our industry experience to keep the project on track. Dutypoint interpreted the client’s initial schematic and used our expertise to make key equipment selections, advising on the optimal size and weight of the units to fit within the restricted space. The entire project was designed offsite in 3D, allowing for precise coordination with other trades to overcome space and access challenges.
To meet the client’s needs, Dutypoint designed and built a complete chilled water plant room, including a buffer vessel, pumps, a degassing pressurisation unit, and all necessary pipework and ancillaries. Throughout the process, Dutypoint liaised closely with other site suppliers, including BMS, and fire system contractors, ensuring a fully integrated “plug-and-play” plant room solution.
Preparing a full 3D design of the plant room offsite ensured seamless collaboration and accuracy, which allowed for precise coordination with other site trades and minimised potential installation issues. This coordinated approach ensured that the project progressed efficiently, despite the access constraints and compressed timeline.
