Dutypoint’s Contribution to the Water Projects Online Initiative
Part of a wider initiative to reduce phosphorus levels in the River Lugg and River Wye, Norton Wastewater Treatment Works’ transformation into a pumping station marked a critical change in how local wastewater is treated. As detailed on Water Projects Online, the works now transfers flows from Norton to Presteigne WwTW, removing the need for on-site treatment and helping to meet new Total P limits.
Dutypoint contributed to this scheme by supplying a custom-built QuadraTANK® with an integrated wash water booster set. This compact and robust unit supports cleaning, maintenance and odour mitigation systems at the new pumping station. The system meets Dwr Cymru Welsh Water’s (DCWW) specification and supports ongoing operational performance across the site.
Project Challenges
To enable the decommissioning of Norton WwTW, the site needed a high-reliability solution for wash water delivery as part of a new terminal pumping station. The rising main design required careful engineering to prevent blockages and odours across a complex, undulating 2km route to Presteigne.
Project Solution
Dutypoint supplied a bespoke QuadraTANK® system fitted with features to meet both WRAS compliance and site-specific operational needs:
- WRAS-compliant design supporting clean water delivery to washdown and service equipment
- Three-pump booster set in duty/assist/standby configuration for reliable performance
- DCWW-spec control panel with volt-free contacts for monitoring tank levels and pump status
- Weatherproof GRP housing with anti-vibration supports and compact footprint for limited space
This intelligent and site-ready solution now supports daily operations at Norton, helping ensure optimal hygiene and system efficiency within the new pumping station. Delivered pre-assembled, the system simplified on-site installation and met the tight commissioning window.
