Dutypoint’s Contribution to the Water Projects Online Initiative
Presteigne Wastewater Treatment Works (WwTW), featured on Water Projects Online, plays a key role in Welsh Water’s efforts to reduce phosphorus levels in the River Lugg and Wye catchments. With new consent limits in place, the site now includes chemical dosing systems, upgraded sludge handling, and an expanded wastewater infrastructure.
Dutypoint supported the project by supplying a robust QuadraTANK® water booster system. This compact plug-and-play unit was delivered pre-assembled and pre-tested, speeding up installation and commissioning while providing a reliable water source to support on-site cleaning and treatment operations. Designed to meet DCWW (Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water) specifications</a>, the solution also enhances safety and performance in a high-compliance environment.
Project Challenges
With space at a premium and treatment infrastructure expanding, Presteigne WwTW required a water booster solution that would be quick to install, easy to maintain, and fully compliant with DCWW and WRAS requirements. All components needed to be housed in a secure, insulated enclosure suitable for exposed rural sites.
Project Solution
Dutypoint delivered a fully integrated QuadraTANK® and VR water booster system tailored for Presteigne’s wastewater needs:
- 1960 L break tank with Category 5 AB air gap for backflow protection
- Twin VR2 booster pumps mounted in a lockable insulated kiosk
- Pre-installed pipework, heater, light and thermostat to streamline delivery and site setup
- DCWW-spec control panel with E-stop and volt-free contacts for alarms and level monitoring
This ready-to-go package was offloaded by Hiab and installed with minimal disruption. It now supports on-site utility functions including washdown, sludge handling and chemical dosing activities.
