Friction Head Loss Calculator
Friction head loss occurs whenever fluid travels through a pipe. The level of friction loss depends on a number of factors:
- The material the pipe is made from - a rougher inner pipe surface will result in a greater friction loss.
- The velocity of the liquid through the pipe - the higher the velocity, the greater the effect of friction on the liquid. This can be worked out from the flow rate and pipe diameter.
- The total length of pipework - the longer the pipe, the more friction loss will occur.
Dutypoint have created a helpful calculator which will estimate the level of friction head loss in your system. Just input the values below and the calculator will instantly give you result.
