Friction Head Loss Calculator

Friction head loss occurs whenever fluid travels through a pipe. The level of friction loss depends on a number of factors:

  1. The material the pipe is made from - a rougher inner pipe surface will result in a greater friction loss.
  2. The velocity of the liquid through the pipe - the higher the velocity, the greater the effect of friction on the liquid. This can be worked out from the flow rate and pipe diameter.
  3. The total length of pipework - the longer the pipe, the more friction loss will occur.

Dutypoint have created a helpful calculator which will estimate the level of friction head loss in your system. Just input the values below and the calculator will instantly give you result.
